MTN Elite One Play-offs Down : Astres Sinks Fovu

The battle for maintenance in the MTN Elite One championship next season gets tougher as the play-offs down tournament gradually drags to an end.  Astres of Douala outplayed Fovu of Baham 4-3 in a day nine match that took place at the Yaounde Omnisports Annex Stadium 1 yesterday April 23, 2024. Supporters from Yaounde and elsewhere came out in their numbers to cheer the teams. It was a grueling encounter as each side was determined to escape from the relegation zone. 
Astres of Douala started off well with good tactics that paid off as the Douala team opened scores two minutes after kick off through Jules Armand Kooh. That served as booster for Astres of Douala that dominated the first part of the game and at the 14th minute Jules Armand Kooh scored the second goal for Astres. Astres was now leading with two goals, but the jubilation did not last for long as Guy Alexandre Ateba scored for Fovu Baham at the 18th minute. Jules Armand Kooh increased scores for Astres at the 27th minutes and at the 44th minute Olivier Dzomene equalized for Fovu of Baham. Both teams separated at half time on a 3-3 score margin.
On resumption, Astres Douala continued with their onslaught but they faced resistance from the solid defence wall of Fovu Baham. Fovu made some attempts at goal, but they were off target.
