Metafrique Steel Fire Incident: Investigations Opened

Governor Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua yesterday paid a visit to the hospital were most of the victims who sustained burns were being taken care of.
Following the fire Incident at the Metafrique Steel SA premises in the Magzi industrial zone in Bassa-Douala, during the night of April 30 to May 1, the Governor of the Littoral region, Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, has declared that investigations have officially opened to know the main cause of the fire. The Governor was speaking on Monday May 4 as he visited the lone survivor at the Douala General Hospital. While at the hospital, the Governor encouraged the victim and also comforted those who lost their loved ones during the fire incident. The Governor regretted that the incident claimed lives but assured all that the company will take care of the families of those who died. According the General Manager of Metafrique Steel SA, when the incident occurred, they informed the administration and rushed the victims to the hospital. He said they have taken all the necessary depositions to ensure that the victims’ families are compensated. He said they have put in place more stringent measures to avoid such incidents in future.
