Cameroon-Sovereign Order of Malta: Celebrating Good Ties

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, yesterday June 11, 2026 granted an audience to the Grand Commander of The Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Fra' Emmanuel Rousseau.
Various achievements recorded within the framework of the diplomatic relations between Cameroon and the Sovereign Order of Malta have been appreciated at the Star Building. This was during an audience the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute granted to the Grand Commander of The Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Fra' Emmanuel Rousseau yesterday June 11, 2026. The position of Grand Commander is equivalent to that of the post of Prime Minister and he is the second in command after the Grand Master of Malta. In his statement to the press, Cameroon was the first African country to establish diplomatic relations with the Sovereign Oder of Malta and 65 years down the line, there are palpable fruits to attest to this cooperation. Discussions during the audience with Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute also provided a stage for the Grand Commander of the Order of Malta to voice his nation’s support for sustainable peace in Cameroon. Exchanges on health and humanitarian actions occupied the pride of place during the audience, especially given the fact that the Order of Malta has three major medical centres in the country. They include the Saint John of Malta Hospital in Njombe, Moungo Division of the Littoral Region, Rohan-Chabot leprosarium in Mokolo, Maya Tsanaga Division of the Far North Region and the Paediatric Oncology Centre located at the Chantal Biya Foundation in Yaounde.
