2022 AWCON Qualifiers : Cameroon Names Squad For Gambia Clash

Ahead of the encounter the head coach of the national women’s team has published a list of 25 players who will defend represent the country in the competition.

The Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon will face the Scorpions of Gambia in the third and final qualifying round for the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to take place in Morocco this year. Ahead of the encounter the head coach of the national women’s team, Gabriel Zabo has published a list of 25 players who will defend the coulours of the country in the competition. On Coach Zabo’s list are three goalkeepers, seven defenders, seven midfielders and eight attackers. What has been the cause for worry is the absence of some players who have defended the colours of the country in major international competitions.
This notwithstanding the team has been training intensively at the Presidential Guard Stadium in Obili Yaounde for the past three weeks under the supervision of Coach Gabriel Zabo Tozie. The training session began with mostly home-based players and they were later joined by foreign-based players. During the training session on Monday February 14, 2022, six out of the 12 professional players invited had already joined the group. They are Bawou Ange Gabrielle, team captain Aboudi Onguene, Meffoumetou Falone, Grace Ngock Yango, Genevieve Ngo Mbeleck and Ewodo Tatiana. The other foreign-based players were still expected to join the group.
