Government School New Deido : SDF Colours Removed

The administration of Douala I Subdivision instructed that the change from green-and-white to gray-and-white to avert any political message.

The walls of the three blocks making up Group I section of Government School New Deido in Douala is again receiving a fresh gray-and-white paint this Wednesday, August 31, 2022. The repainting of the academic establishment follows the removal of the coat of paint in green-and-white shades associated with the opposition Social Democratic Front (SDF) party flag.
The painting which became a subject of much talking among politicians in the city is said to be a recommendation of the SDF Member of Parliament, Joshua Osih, who offered to assist in the renovation of the establishment. However, many believe that the choice of the colours were politically motivated as the colour combination is associated with his party flag.
Those working on the campus say the colours were selected based on experts’ recommendations as green is soothing for eyes and white symbolises cleanliness. The militants of other parties have alleged that the shades were chosen to send out a political message.
Following an administrative instruction from the Divisional Officer of Douala I, the establishment is being painted gray and white, and does not forbid any further works that were going on.
