Qatar 2022 World Cup : 36 Players To Begin Preparations

The list was made public by coach Rigobert Song Bahanag ahead of their World Cup friendlies against Uzbekistan and South Korea.

Two months to the kick-off of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will kick-start preparations in a few days’ with two friendlies against Uzbekistan and South Korea. Ahead of the matches, coach Rigobert Song Bahanag, has published a list of 36 players. The training camp is within the frame work of the FIFA window slated from September 19 and 27, 2022. On Coach Song Bahanag’s list are four goalkeepers, 10 defenders, eight midfielders and 14 forwards. Among the players invited only two are local players. There have been significant changes in the squad that most fans are familiar with.
While there are many regulars like, Andre Onana, Vincent Aboubakar, Karl Toko Ekambi, Jean Charles Castelletto, Fai Collins, Nouhou Ntolo, Kunde Malong, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Moumi Ngamaleu, among others. There are on the list three old faces; Nicolas Nkoulou, George Mandjeck and Jean Pierre Nsame. They are making their come back in the team after a long absence. Apart from the three, there are also those who have been called up more than once but have never played any official encounter with the Lions like, Simon Ngapandouetnbu, Didier Ebosse, Lamkel Ze and Oumar Gonzalez. Also in this category of newcomers are, Christopher Wooh and Georges Keving Nkoudou who have been selected for the second time after the June 2022 grouping for AFCON qualifiers.
