U-23 AFCON Qualifiers : Cameroon Sails To Last Round

Despite the 0-0 draw against Angola yesterday at the Yaounde Omnisports Stadium, the young Lions progressed with a 3-2 win on aggregate.

The U-23 Lions of Cameroon have progressed to the third and last round of the qualifiers of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in this category billed for Morocco. This was after a 0-0 draw yesterday October 30, 2022 at the Yaounde Omnisports stadium against Angola in the second leg, second round qualifiers. Cameroon finished with a 3-2 win on aggregate after the 3-2 victory against Angola in the first leg.
Etienne Eto’o positioned just behind the striker, contrary to the first match where he led the line, had the first targeted shot for Cameroon yesterday. The player kicked the ball hard but goalkeeper Francisco Cambila of Angola was vigilant enough to push it away. This first attempt was a good one as several others followed suit thanks to the good work of the midfield pair Fidel Brice Ambina and Djawal Kaiba. Patient Wassou who was voted the best young player of the year recently was in the position of creating danger for opponents severally but missed them. It was seemingly not one of those good days for Wassou as he delivered less than what was expected from him. A performance which could be blamed on the fact that he has been overworked recently, attending both to club and national team duties. Cameroon pressed on having several opportunities but the defence from Angola was strong enough to foil all efforts leaving the game at a goalless draw at break time.
