The Yaounde Omnisports stadium was the venue of the eighth edition of the Central African Athletics Championship last weekend. Organised by the competition the competition brought together over 200 athletes from Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo and Chad. The competition which was coupled with the 56th edition of the national athletics championship marked the end of the 2017 athletics season in Cameroon. The athletes competed in both the track and field events. After two days of intense competition, Cameroon finished first on the overall classification table with 18 gold medals. The best performance in the competition was recorded in the women’s high jump. Oyono Oyono jumped 1m65 to grab the gold medal in the discipline.
