Libya: Haftar’s Forces Control Oil Installations

The forces have seized the fourth oil port, Brega completing taking over vital oil installations.

 

Libya’s vital oil installations are now under the control of forces loyal to General Khalifa Haftar after the forces seized the oil port of Brega. The capture of the oil port on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 was the culmination of an offensive the forces launched on the country’s oil crescent on Sunday, September 11, 2016.

Al Jazeera reported that General Haftar’s forces fought off guards to gain control of the oil terminal at Ras Lanuf, Al-Sidra and Zuwaytania and finally secured Brega unopposed on Tuesday. “We have taken control of the Brega port completely and without any fighting,” Al Jazeera quoted Colonel Muftah al-Muqaried who heads oil guards loyal to Haftar as having said. He added that, “the entire oil crescent region is now under our control.”
