Civic Service : 2017 Batch Learn Holistic Responsibility

Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou, launched the 2017 National Conscripts training in Bamenda last August 22.

The 2017 batch of 1000 Conscripts recruited from all the ten regions of Cameroon have 30 days to train and emerge with lessons and knowledge in good citizenship. It is all about youths between the ages of 17-21 from formal and informal institutions, privileged to acquire lessons in First Aid, Moral rearmament, social entrepreneurship, volunteerism, national integration, solidarity, life skills etc.  The General Manager of the National Civic Service Agency for Participation in Development (NCSAPD), Taosi, said, the project that has so far, trained 11.000  Conscripts  was conceived to create  pilot villages of volunteers, integrate and raise Cameroonians in the spirit of living together in peace, tolerance and prosperity.
Training in the backdrop of socio- political crisis rocking the North West and South West regions, messages during the Bamenda event stressed the need for youths to be raised in Republican values. It was against this backdrop that Minister Mounouna Foutsou urged youths to emerge as ambassadors of peace, dialogue and unity. He discouraged deviant conducts at a moment when Civic bench marks are virtually absent and evident in lack of patriotic commitment and delinquent acts on the rise. The NCSAPD was created as a response to the situation and the Minister hailed management actions that set records straight.
Away from the Agency, the Minister stated the movement’s commitment to stand by the nation’s youths with the 3-year special Youth Plan for their socio-economic empowerment. He challenged the Nation’s youths to rush and embrace the project at a time when the government is intensifying the campaign for civic education and national integration. The Government Delegate to the Bamenda City council, Ndumu Nji Vincent earlier set the tone with cheers for the training of Conscripts in holistic civic responsibility as the gateway towards a future, free of all forms of evil.
