Integration in Africa: Role of Parliaments On Centre Stage

Participants in the conference on August 23, debated on many themes.

After the President of Cameroon’s Senate, Marcel Niat Njifeni, the representative of the Head of State, Paul Biya opened the Yaounde  continental  conference   on political and socio-economic integration in Africa  on August 22, 2017, the participants have had no rest.
Wednesday, August 23, 2017, the second day of the conference was a busy one. Topics discussed during conference debates were on the theme, “Which capacity development for the New Development approach to natural resources governance, formulation of model laws and socio-economic integration of Africa.”  With the theme, African parliamentarians and experts examined details in sessions. There was a session on the topic introducing the New Development Approach to natural resources governance within the context of urgent need to implement the African mining vision.  Another session was on the procedure for adopting and ratifying a model law on the New Developmental Approach to natural resources governance in Africa and which relations between this model law and other national, regional and international frameworks on  natural resources.
Parliamentarians used the conference to also give proposals on how parliament could help foster the political and socio-economic integration of Africa.
