Day 2 Of School Resumption: Increased Attendance In Buea

Pupils and students attended classes in increased numbers in the South West yesterday

 

As the education family mobilises to receive Basic Education Minister, Yousouf Hadidja Alim today in the Region, school attendance increased in numbers yesterday in the various institutions of Buea, capital of the South West Region.  Lawn mowers were observed to be very much employed in the school yards bringing down the tall grasses that had invaded the campuses during the long vacation. Cameroon Tribune visited a dozen schools in Buea mainly primary schools before noon and witnessed a crystal improvement in the number of pupils and students in classes receiving lessons.
Whereas parents and students of secondary boarding schools like the Baptist High School Buea are trickling in with their children, others are calling from far away towns of Kumba, Yaounde, Douala and Bafoussam to assure the school authorities that they are on their way coming. At the Baptist High School, the number grew from 40 in the first day of reopening to 60 yesterday.
At the Government Primary School  Group One in Likoko Membea, Mrs Ngassa Frida who is Head mistress showed a record of attendance which grew from 22 Monday to 35 yesterday, Tuesday. The neighbouring Group Two Head Teacher, still in Likoko Membea, Mrs ikome Irene,  presented a progress from 13 on September 4, first day of reopening to 23 yesterday.
At the Government Nursery School Likoko Membea, the number increased from eight the first day to 17 the second day of resumption. Attendance swelled from 27 pupils in day one of reopen...
