Chevening Scholarship: 2017/2018 Scholars Sent Off

 The 18 postgraduate students of Cameroonian, Gabonese and Chadian nationalities will each spend one year backing a master’s degree in the United Kingdom (UK)

 

The Minister of Higher Education, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo and the British High Commissioner to Cameroon, Brian Olley have officially sent-off the 2017 /2018 cohort of Chevening Scholars on August 23, 2017. The awardees from Cameroon, Chad and Gabon, were selected based on academic excellence, talent, leadership skills, entrepreneurial skills as well as sense of responsibility.
Speaking during the ceremony at the British High Commissioner’s residence, the Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo expressed gratitude to the UK Government for such a great gesture offered to the Cameroonians students. “I am impressed with this gesture because it is a great symbol of cooperation between Cameroon and Britain in the domain of higher education;” the Minister noted. He added that the selection of these students was a tough one, as such they were sending out talented and intelligent Cameroonians to study in the United Kingdom, whom he believes will come back and impact the country.
