2018 U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers: Cameroon, Guinea Clash Tomorrow

 The away leg qualifying match will be an opportunity for the Lionesses to secure a good score

The Under 20 Lionesses of Cameroon left the country yesterday September 14, 2017 for Conakry, Guinea, where they will play the away leg qualifying match against the Silly Nationals of Guinea on Saturday September 16, 2017 at the Stade du 28 Septembre.
Prior to their departure, the Under 20 Lionesses were camping at the FECAFOOT training centre at Odza near Yaounde. Team captain, Thérèse Ndzie Seme said they are well prepared for the challenge ahead. She said the strength of the team is hard work and that the country can count on them.  A source close to the team said training focused on the athletic, technical, tactical, morale and psychological levels. He said the goal was to improve the quality of the players. They had their last training session on Wednesday at the Omnisport Annex Stadium in Yaounde.
Initially, 35 players were called to camp but after several training sessions, only 18 were selected for the Guinean campaign. Apart from that, the National U-20 Women’s squad played several friendly matches with local teams before leaving the country.
The Secretary General in the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, Oumarou Tado and the Vice President of the Normalisation Committee of FECAFOOT, Barrister Marcelle Denise Ambomo, paid a courtesy visit to the hotel residence of the Lionesses in the Bastos neighbourhood to give them the support and encouragement of the Cameroonian people.   
The 2018 African U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament is in its 9th edition. The biennial international women’s youth football championship organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is to determine women’s Under 20 teams from Africa which will qualify for FIFA U 20 Women’s World Cup. Only Players born on or before 1st January 1998 are eligible to compete in the next tournament. Two teams from the tournament will qualify for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in France. They will be considered CAF representatives. The Under 20 Lionesses of Cameroon failed to qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2015. Four cities in France have been selected to host the sixteen participating countries for the next edition.

Comment s’est déroulée la préparation pour les éliminatoires de la coupe du monde ?

Jusqu’à ce jour et depuis près de deux mois et demi, la préparation se passe bien. Nous avons commencé depuis le 26 juin. Nous avons fait un travail d’évaluation. Ce qui nous a permis de mettre en place un nombre d’éléments de performance. Nous avons entrecoupé notre préparation sur  les plans athlétique, technique, tactique, psychologique et mental.  Le but était d’améliorer les qualités des joueuses. Nous sommes sur une bonne pente. Nous avons une bonne mobilité et les filles sont fin prêtes pour le match de ce samedi. Le dernier bilan de ce stage préparatoire est positif. Nous nous sommes évalués à travers les matchs de préparation. On a eu  à jouer contre la sélection régionale des filles du Centre, constituée essentiellement de joueuses de l’équipe première. Certes, elles ont gagné sur un score de 4-0, mais l’important était de voir le comportement  des filles sur le terrain.
