South West: Proximity Consultations Continue In Buea

Consultations of the base continued in Buea yesterday, October 18, 2017 with the team for Buea Urban crisscrossing the Regional headquarters. Francis Ngundu, leader of the team exchanged with traditional rulers in their palaces and returned to the OIC premises where he received professional groups. Among the groups earlier received in Buea Tuesday, were the Exco of Journalism associations and heads of publishing houses.

Bouddih Adams of The Post Newspaper told this reporter that the issue of land grabbing by administrators, especially in Fako was raised. Equally, many interlocutors sued for the release of those arrested during the September 22, 2017 and  October 1, 2017 upheavals in Anglophone Cameroon. Also, the question of Federalism is very present and cuts across the various discussions entertained by the local teams with their panellists.

The major suspense leaving the press very thirsty in the South West dialogue team is the quiet nature of the exchanges with the base as various delegations are only working to submit their reports to the Regional leader who alone would make a statement at the end of the exercise this weekend.

The consultation of the base which kicked off last Sunday with a briefing at the South West Governor’s Office in Buea streamed down to meeting Senior Divisional Officers last Monday. The strem is expected to flow upwards with Sub-Divisional teams meeting the Divisional officers yesterday for evaluation.

Yesterday, the dialogue teams were to work briefly on the field and submit reports to the Divisional teams. Today, Sub-Divisional teams are to submit their findings to Divisional teams before noon. In that hierarchy the Regional team would go back to the Regional Governor this Sunday for evaluation of their mission on the South West Region. Echoes from the field indicate a fairly smooth consultation with people allowed to speak their minds as well as the mission teams lending a keen listening ear.

The various team members at the grassroots are already preparing reports to submit to hierarchy.
