Population & Housing Census: Pilot Phase To Kick Off Soon

The National Coordinator of the exercise has said the entire process of the fourth general census will be digital.

 

Apilot census in build up to the fourth general population and housing census will kick off in the days ahead, the National Coordinator of the exercise and Director General of the Central Bureau for Censuses and Population Studies (BUCREP), Bernadette Mbarga has said. In a press release sent to our newsroom, the National Coordinator noted that census cartography activities which started in September 2016 were already coming to an end, to pave the way for the pilot census phase.
“As of now, over 17,200 out of the 18,500 existing enumeration areas have been covered, making a coverage total of 93 per cent of the national territory,” Bernadette Mbarga disclosed. According to her, once the enumeration exercise is complete, they will proceed with the training of enumerators on the use of census applications on smartphones. The training which shall last three weeks will then give way to the kick off of the pilot census, the National Coordinator said.
