How is the gendarmerie legion in Manyu working to contain the security situation in the Division at moment?

The security situation in the Division at moment is deplorable especially as it has to do with young people who feel that an adventure can be achieved in one or two hours. Most of our young brothers and to a lesser extent young sisters are getting involved in dirty games to join what is known as the foreign army. In the case of Manyu, it’s a reality. A few days ago, some ten boys from some parts of the North West and South West Regions were on an adventure and thanks to the intelligence reports we have, we were able to pick them up. I can say we saved them because most of them are very ignorant. They found themselves in a forest between Nigeria and Cameroon. They are presently in our keeping as investigations continue and the law is going to prevail. They claimed that they were going to do a job. Most of them have never been to Manyu. They didn’t even know where they were. They are from Mezam, Meme, Boyo and Ndian Divisions.

Could this be indicative of the fact that the Southern Cameroons are recruiting youngsters to fight for them?

Exactly, they have put in place a mechanism to recruit young boys into their forces to fight against the republic. This is a reality. We have identified their networks and we are working to crack them...
