A college of coaches has been appointed to follow up the performances of Cameroon’s opponents.
In order to host and win the trophy during the upcoming women AFCON, the president of Fecafoot has appointed a college of coaches to assist the coach of the Indomitable Lionesses, Enow Ngatchu in preparing the girls for the challenge ahead. The college of coaches comprising Etienne Sockeng, Martin Mtoungou Mpile and Jean Marie Amoa will have as duty to follow up the performances of Cameroon’s opponents, that is; Zimbabwe, Egypt and South Africa, and report back to the head coach so that they can come up with strategies to counteract them and achieve victory.
Meanwhile the lionesses continue training in Akono for their sixth camp which has so far been punctuated by friendly matches against the Augustin Binya foundation and Espoir de Caire football club, all male selections. The first encounter which saw the Lionesses squad split into two was characterised by a one-nil victory for Team A while Team B bowed 3-4 to the very Binya foundation. The second friendly which was witnessed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Sports and Physical education who was in the company of Fecafoot president and the general coordinator of national selections, ended in disappointing 0-all tie. Oumarou Tado said he was in Akono to encourage the Girls and make sure they lack nothing. “We urge you to continue working hard and with determination,” he said. The ultimate objective is to attain the final on December 3rd and win it,” he added.
According to the team press officer for the Lionesses, Leocardia Bongben, training focused on vivacity and tactical strategies ahead of the double confrontation against Mali on October 13th and 16th. The Lionesses will leave for Mali on Tuesday October 11th, two days before the first friendly game. The squad is like to be reinforced with the arrival of two more professionals before the Mali game. They are Vanessa Siakam from South Africa and Melvis Tantah Ngifor from the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Though the clubs of the other key players have already been contacted, there is no feedback yet as to when the players will eventually be released given that they are under no obligation to do so since the tournament is not recognized by FIFA.
