“CHRACERH Is Not For The Rich”

Professor Jean Marie Kasia, General Manager CHRACERH, sizes-up activities of the hospital for the year.

How is the hospital rounding up its activities for the year?

We are doing the last delivery surgical sessions of the year in the In-vitro fertilisation (IVF) group. These patients are amongst some 50 women who underwent IVF some nine months ago. We have closed the IVF group with three surgical interventions. Amongst those we are working on now, one is 47-years-old and the others are between 30 and 38 years. One of our patients is from France and she had undergone three IVF attempts in vain. She and her husband came from France and their first attempt at the Hospital Centre for Applied Research, Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproduction (CHRACERH) was a success with a baby girl. In line with ending our activities for the year, yesterday, December 18, 2017 we had 12 embryo transfers and six oocytes retrieval. We started work at about 6: 00 a.m. and I am sure that by 11:00 p.m. we will still be working. Biologically, we have a lot of work to do and from each patient, we took over nine oocytes and we need to treat each before using.

What balance sheet do you make of the year?

About 12 of the patients who underwent an IVF session this year will deliver sometime in March next year. Right now, we are starting another group of patients for IVF and I will not be surprise that in two years or less, we will have more patients for delivery. Each day, a lot of patients consult at our hospital and in the next two years, we will have more than 500 IVF to perform. From all indications, the hospital has registered a successful rate of IVF and many more people are encouraged to come to the hospital. We have the capacity to attend to everybody by doing a proper programming of patients.
