Future Economic Leaders: Five Young Cameroonians In Top 100

The 2016 Choiseul ranking of the “100 African Business Leaders of Tomorrow” includes Cameroon’s budding entrepreneurs.

 

Like in 2015, five young Cameroonians this 2016 figure among the top 100 African Business Leaders of Tomorrow,” of the Choiseul Institute’s annual ranking. The ranking identifies, lists and ranks young African leaders aged 40 years or less, who may play a major role in the economic development of the continent in the near future. Cameroon’s top five are either leading major corporations and Small and Medium-size Enterprises, investors or project founders with a sense of excellence, influential networks, immense potential and the ability to go farther, Choiseul notes.

Jean Paul Melaga

39-year-old Jean Paul Melaga is definitely a force to reckon with. The Chief Executive Officer of Whitestone Finance, an advisory firm that raises funds for Small and Medium-size Enterprises in Africa, occupies the 19th position on the Choiseul ranking. The budding business mogul, a former Africa Director of Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi from 2008 to 2015, one of the world’s largest banks in terms of assets, has been on the ranking in the past three years. He was Head of Francophone Africa at Renaissance Capital, a frontier investment bank that focuses on emerging markets. Jean-Paul Melaga also worked as Associate Director for Standard Chartered Bank and started his career as an M&A analyst with Lehman Brothers. He was also listed amongst the 100 Most Influential Africans by New African Magazine in 2016.

Daschaco Bony

The London School of Business and Financing, University of Ibadan graduate is 39. Dashaco, a Kumba native, is the second Cameroonian on the Choiseul Institute’s annual ranking of young economic future leaders. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Asmar Media Group, a leading media agency in consultancy with a strong reputation. Asmar is 100 per cent owned by Cameroonians. Daschaco occupies the 29th position on the ranking.

Tony Smith

The Chief Executive Officer of Limitless Corporation and former Project Manager at Microsoft between 2009 and 2011 is a 32-year-old Cameroonian.
