Fight Against Zoonotic Diseases: US Ambassador Commends Cameroon

The new US Ambassador to Cameroon, Peter Henry Barlerin has lauded Cameroon for the efforts put in place to roll back zoonotic diseases in the country. The American diplomat expressed his satisfaction, Tuesday January 9, 2018, in Yaounde, after meeting with the Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, Dr Taiga. “Cameroon has made a lot of progress,” Ambassador Peter Henry Barlerin said, giving credits to the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries for the results.

He pointed out that zoonotic diseases are a challenge to the entire world. A zoonotic disease is a disease transmitted from animals to humans. The US Ambassador told reporters he was at the livestock ministry primarily for a courtesy visit since it was the first time for him to meet Minister Taiga. “I look forward very much to working with him [Minister Taiga].
