North West and South West Regions: Prohibition Of Motorbikes Taxis In Some Localities

 Herein is a press release from the Minister of Territorial Administration.

“The Minister of Territorial Administration, Permanent Secretary of the National Security Council (NSC) hereby informs the national and international community, that on Wednesday 7 March 2018, at about 1 pm, terrorists gunmen on motorbikes attacked defense forces guarding Presbyterian Comprehensive High School (PCHS) Batibo, Momo Division, in the North West Region, with the obvious intention to kidnap students of this academic institution.

The prompt and professional intervention of our security forces dispersed the attackers. During this attack perpetrated with the aid of war arms, one (1) Cameroonian soldier lost his life and three (3) students were wounded.

The Minister of Territorial Administration observes that this attack adds to the numerous other atrocities committed for several months now in the North West and South West Regions by the secessionist activists. Amongst others these include:

- The kidnapping of the Divisional Officer of Batibo Sub-division, Momo Division, (North West Region) on 11 February 2018;
- The kidnapping of the North West Regional Delegate for Social Affairs in the same Sub-division on 24 February 2018;
- The assault of nine (9) women returning from a meeting, who were robbed of their belongings and one of them stabbed;
- The assault on seven (7) students on their way to school, who were seriously wounded;
- The assassination of four (4) soldiers at the said ‘AGBOKEM German ferry landing’ in Eyumodjock Sub-division, Manyu Division in the South West Region;
- The assassination of the Senior Inspector of Police MINYE MINKOULOU Martin, Sergeant ENDAMANE and the Traditional Ruler, Chief EKABE NYONGO, of Ngongo Bakundu village, all in Meme Division.

Still in Batibo Sub-division, besides the recent discovery of a significant reserve of weapons and explosive devices, we equally identified eighteen (18) rape cases of young girls between thirteen (13) and eighteen (18) years, some of whom are currently pregnant.
Thus, it is increasingly evident that the modus operandi of secessionist terrorists consists in launching successive attacks with about ten motorbikes each having a rider and an armed gangster.
With this modus operandi, these terrorists have succeeded in assassinating twenty seven (27) security officers and burnt several public buildings, schools, hospital facilities, markets, private residence, as well as vehicles in both Regions.
