The European Union, EU and the United Kingdom, UK, on March 19, 2018, reached agreement on the terms for the latter’s quitting the economic bloc. EU’s Brexit Negotiator, Michel Barnier, described the announcement as a “decisive step.” He spoke after meeting with the UK's Brexit Secretary, David Davis. The transitional period running from March 29, 2019 to March 29, 2020 is designed to smoothen the path for future permanent relations. There was also agreement on the rights of EU citizens in the UK and UK citizens in the EU after Brexit. The agreement on the transitional period maybe endorsed at the EU summit this week.
