“For the five years I spent in Senate, it was a first time experience because we initially did not know the demands of being a Senator. The first phase was more of a process on how to go about parliamentary affairs. We discovered the new institution and sought to meet the expectations of the population. Senators from the Centre Region worked together in synergy and not in isolation. Together, we all visited our councillors, listened to the problems of the people and held discussions with the objective of finding lasting solutions. We therefore kept a very close relationship with the population. The function of the Senate is voting laws, controlling government expenditure and representing the councils.
