Athletics: Mfoundi Divisional League Launches New Season

The first playing day of the divisional championship took place in Yaounde on Saturday April 21, 2018.

The Yaounde Ominisports Stadium was the venue of the kick-off of the 2018 athletics season for Mfoundi Division in the Centre Region. Organised by the Mfoundi Dvisional Athletics League, the competition brought together over about 200 athletes from clubs in the Mfoundi Division.

The athletes competed in different disciplines in the track and field. These include included 100m, 200m, 400m 1,500m and long jump. It was equally an opportunity to detect new talents. Inhabitants of Yoaunde and its environs thronged the stadium to watch young Cameroonians display rich talents in the sport. In the men’s 100m race Esseme Emmanuel (CMSP) was the fastest finishing the race in 10”7.

He was followed by Nganguele Raphael (AIA) 10”7 and Eyong Bringsley Ako (INJS) 11”0. In the women’s competition, Hawaou Amada (INJS) was the first in 12”5. Aretouyap Nsangou (CMSP) was second in 12”7 and Ngah Martine (CMSP) was third in 12”9. In the men’s 1,500m race, Dessidji Romain (CMSP) finished first in 4’01”7.Engolo Samy (CMSP) was second in 4’04”5 and Ndzudie TowaDany was third in 4’19”0.
