Libya: Government Seeks Recovery Of Ghaddafi-era Loans

Fayez al-Sarraj, head of the Libyan government recognised by the international community, says it has started moves to recover money lent to various African countries by the late Libyan leader, Muammar Ghaddafi, Radio France International reported on May 2, 2018. Some 67 billion US dollars (36,720 billion FCFA) is involved – including loans and investments in companies in Africa and the Arab world. Amongst African nations that received Libyan loans are South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Côte d'Ivoire, Niger and Uganda.
