Badminton: Journalists Drilled On Techniques

A Badminton Media Workshop took place in Yaounde on June 5, 2018.

The Badminton International Open tournament will take place at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex from June 14 to 17, 2018. Ahead of the event, a Badminton Media Workshop took place in Yaounde on June 5, 2018.

Organised by the Cameroon Badminton Federation in collaboration with the Badminton World Federation, the workshop brought together some 30 journalists from across the country.

Speaking at the closing, the Secretary General of Badminton Confederation of Africa, Sahir Edoo he believes that from the information got during the workshop, the journalists now have a better understanding of Badminton.

The President of the Cameroon Badminton Federation, Odette Engoulou expressed hope that the teachings will enable the journalists have a good mastery of the practice of badminton and that through the knowledge acquired they will help the federation meet its objective which is to vulgarise the sport in all the regions of the country.

The objective of the workshop was top train sports journalists on the basics of badminton. Journalists were drilled on the game that is played with a racket, the shuttle cork, history of badminton and Para-badminton, among others.

The workshop was led by international badminton expert, Shair Edoo from the Mauritius Island. The International Badminton Open tournament will bring together top players from the world who will be seeking for points to qualify for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
