Kenya: Government Recruits 100 Cuban Specialist Doctors
The first batch of hired 50 Cuban specialist doctors arrived in Kenya's capital, Nairobi on June 6, 2018, to beef up the country’s health system, especially in rural areas, the BBC reported. The second and last set of 50 doctors was expected in Nairobi on June 7, 2018.
The Health Ministry said the doctors would be taken to the Kenya School of Government for a two-week induction, before being deployed in the country's 47 counties. The doctors include five kidney specialists, three radiologists, plastic surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons and neurologists. About 50 Kenyan doctors will be sent to Cuba next September for specialised training, especially in family medicine.
