Preparations for the closing of the end of the 2018 sports season in Cameroon have reached high gear. The third preparatory meeting for the 58th edition of the Cameroon Cup final and the award of medals to meritorious clubs took place in Yaounde yesterday, November 5, 2018.
Organised by the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, the meeting brought together organising committee members and partner ministries and intuitions.
Speaking at the opening, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Bidoung Mkpatt said the ceremony of the 2018 Cameroon Cup final will be one of the first official outing of the Head of State, Paul Biya after his swearing in for another seven-year mandate.
He called on the committee members to accelerate preparations as the date for the official closing ceremony is fast approaching. Minister Bidoung Mkpatt said the closing ceremony of the 2018 sports season must be an event which announces the 2019 Total AFCON which will be organised in Cameroon.
He called on the different committees to give their experiences for a successful feast. Yesterday’s meeting was aimed at evaluating the state of preparedness of the different sub committees to enable members of the national organising committee to make pertinent suggestions geared towards the improvement of the national programme.
The different committee heads took turns to present the state of preparedness of their committees. The Rapporteur of the Animation Committee, Alidou Sajo said work is already going on in the committee.
He said the grand parade for this year’s closing ceremony will take place on the theme; “Together for the emergence of Cameroon with Paul Biya President of Cameroon”. He said rehearsals will kick off on Wednes day, November 7, 2018 in the campus of Lycée Leclerc in Ngoa-Ekele, Yaounde.
The President of the Medical Committee, Dr. Mayim Florence said the medical committee is working in collabo ration with the Ministry of Public Health and the Department of Health in the Ministry of Defence to put in place integral health coverage.
She said the committee is ready. During the meeting it was announced that the women’s Cameroon Cup final will take place on Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Yaounde Military Stadium at 3: 00 p.m.
