Tchakoute Patie Elected New Bar President

Patie Tchakoute has been elected the new president of the Cameroon bar after beating the incumbent who stood for re-election. Tchakoute won a landslide victory in the election of the council members forcing the incumbent, Ngnie Kamga to withdraw from the race for the presidency after realizing he was largely out paced by the challenger. The lawyers started with the election of Barrister Evaristus Morfaw Nkafu as president of the general assembly in replacement of Barrister Nico Halle who didn’t stand for re-re-election. Then followed the election of the 15 members of the Bar council from among whom the president of the Bar is elected. Though any of the fifteen members can run for the post of president no matter their position on the ranking, the incumbent withdrew after realizing Tchakoute took 1098 votes from the 2535 that were up for grab. It is worthy to note that he did not only withdraw from the race for the post of president but also withdrew as a member of the council and was replaced by Mohamadou Soulemane from the Far North who occupied the 15th position.
