Dropping Of Arms: Borstal Institute Ready To Receive Those Who Comply

The National Coordinator for NDDRC, Fai Yengo says the centre can accommodate between 100-120 persons while other plans are in the offing for more intakes.

The National Coordinator for the National Disarmament Demobilisation and Reintegration Committee (NDDRC), Fai Yengo Francis was yesterday December 19, 2018, in Buea picturing some facilities put in place to receive those who lay down their arms. One of such places is the Borstal Institute in Buea where he was led through a guided tour by the Director of institution, Fidelis Njie Ewumbue in the company of South West Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai.

Njie Ewumbue introduced the team through the seven workshops of the institution where those who drop their arms will gain skills. The workshops are Woodwork, Moto mechanics, Welding, Building Construction, Agriculture and Livestock, Sewing, and Fine Arts and Painting. The team equally inspected dormitories where all bedding facilities are already installed, bathrooms and kitchens which were neatly cleaned to be used by the comers.

Fai Yengo told the press after the observation that all has been put in place to welcome all those who drop their arms in the South West Region while adding that the structure conform to all security details that they would have loved to have. He noted that the centre at presence can receive 100 to 120 persons. In a working session, he instructed Fonju Njukang Bernard, South West Regional Coordinator for NDDRC to come with place B and even C to accommodate more persons. “After attaining the number of 120 persons, tomorrow more persons like 1000 might show up. So we must create room for all,” he said.
