Prince of Peace Is Here

Christians nationwide have celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ through special church services that carried messages of hope, peace and inclusive transformation as a nation.

The birth of Jesus Christ, Saviour to the world was commemorated worldwide yesterday December 25, 2018 with different church services during which Christians were told Jesus is born to transform their lives. At the Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church of the Cameroon Baptist Convention in Yaounde, a special bilingual church service, marked the day in the presence of the Prime Minister, Head of Government.  In a sermon drawn from the book of Isaiah 9:6-7, the officiating Rev. Paul Meme, French Pastor of the Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church; titled his message: “Christmas, The Hope Of A Certain Peace.”

The church service began at 9:00 a.m. when Christians made their way into the church, beautifully decorated to announce the reason of celebration. After choir procession, songs of praise and worship, the church service was punctuated with special songs and sketches to add more meaning to the birth of Jesus Christ.  In his message to the congregation, Rev. Pastor Paul Meme said according to Isaiah 9:6, “For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulders, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

While narrating biblical stories, Rev. Meme said the Jews of the Judah region, after sinning against God and rejecting the advice of the prophet, found themselves in captivity in Assyria. Assyria is therefore for the Jew of Judah a symbol of darkness and despair, for they had no peace either with God or with their Assyrian neighbours.
