The Cadet Lions will play in Group B with Morocco, Guinea and Senegal in the first round of the competition in Tanzania next year
Cameroon will play in Group B with Morocco, Guinea and Senegal in the first round of the 2019 Total U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Tanzania. This was the outcome of the draw that took place at the Mlimani City Conference Centre in Dar Es Salam, Tanzania, recently. From the draw the U-17 Lions team and technical staff now know the challenge ahead of them and what steps to take. Group B appears to be tough as all the teams are familiar with the competition. Cameroon has participated in the competition seven times. Their best performance was in 2003 when they won the trophy. Guinea equally has seven participations but finished third in 1995, 2015 and 2017. Morocco and Senegal both have two participations in the tournament. Morocco finished fourth in 2013 while Senegal ended the competition in the group stage in 2011.
Host country Tanzania will play in Group A against Nigeria, Angola and Uganda. Group A appears to be an easy one with favourites like Nigeria and Angola. Also to watch is Uganda who are making their first appearance in the competition. With the absence of 2017 runners-up, Ghana and two times holders Mali the teams especially Guinea who are third place winner in the last two editions will give their best to win the trophy in Tanzania. The competition will take place from April 14 to 28, 2019 in Dar es Salam. The four teams that will play the semi-finals will represent Africa at the 2019 U-17 World Cup in Peru.
