Israeli Ambassador Decries Libelous Articles

A communique from the Israeli Ambassador to Cameroon.

“The Israeli Embassy regrets the fact that some slanderous and libelous articles were published by certain Cameroonian media organs on Monday 18th March 2019. The articles masqueraded as a personal attack on the Ambassador, but were clearly aimed at exculpating Mr. Jean de Dieu Momo, leader of a political party and a member of government, from comments he had publicly made on CRTV. Mr. Momo’s comments were clearly anti-Semitic and included tribalistic innuendo repellent to both Cameroonians and foreigners alike.

The Embassy wishes to reiterate that the obvious that the Holocaust is a deeply painful part in the history of the Jewish people and a scourge on human history. Consequently, it is regrettable that some parts of the Cameroon media should attempt to deflect from the real issues at stake by attacking the person of the Ambass...
