Infrastructure Development : Ebolowa-Akom II-Kribi Road Under Focus

Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi of Public Works and the Director General of ICM S.p.A; an Italian civil engineering company, held an audience on Thursday March 21, 2019.

Ground works for the imminent kick off of construction works on the Ebolowa-Akom II-Kribi road have been put back on track. On Thursday March 21, 2019, the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi held an audience with the Director General of ICM S.p.A; an Italian civil engineering company retained to construct the road. The key issue which came under discussion was the reduction of the project cost, while ensuring good quality.

During the audience, Minister Nganou reiterated that “the cost of the work should be moderate but the quality of the road should not be compromised. It should be of good quality.” He called on ICM S.p.A to submit a new project description and estimate within two weeks (counting from March 13, 2019), taking into consideration indemnities, laying of optic fibre cables, putting in place emergency stops, secondary road works, amongst others. The Minister promised the company that if it executes the road at an acceptable modest cost, it shall be awarded other road construction contracts.
