Nkor, Noni: Prof. Bole Butake Honoured By Head of State

The SDO for Bui, Nzeki Theophile, on November 12, 2016, decorated his casket with the Medal of Officer of the Cameroon Order of Valour.

 

Prof. Bole Butake, who passed away on October 1, 2016, in Yaounde, was buried in his native Nkor village in Noni Sub-division, Bui Division of the North West Region on Saturday, November 12, 2016. The Senior Divisional Officer for Bui, Nzeki Theophile, who represented the Head of State at the event, decorated the fallen literary luminary posthumously with the Medal of Officer of the Cameroon Order of Valour.

At a requiem mass at the Saint Patrick Church, Nkor, which was attended by late Butake’s colleagues, amongst other dignitaries, Rev. Father Sylvester Ngariba in his sermon reminded mourners that death holds the golden key to heaven. He said death marks the beginning of an endless life into eternity. Ngariba noted that though there was sadness because of the loss, mourners ought to be happy because the late professor was undoubtedly with God.

Mayor Wache of Nkor Council, one of late Butake’s contemporaries, described him as a social and professional model. He said Butake had moral and mental independence. Wache intimated that Butake would have preferred to be celebrated instead of being mourned.
