‘Made In Cameroon’ Products: Network For Processing, Marketing Gaining Grounds

The Economic Interest Grouping of Cameroonian AgriEntrepreneurs, a formal platform for networking and promotion of access to capital, has organized a trade fair in Yaounde.

The ‘Made in Cameroon’ brand is yet to conquer the national market and beyond due to poor visibility, absence of the brand in shopping centers, crisis of confidence of consumers, amongst others. But many good initiatives are being undertaken by Cameroonian entrepreneurs to boost production, processing and marketing of agrifood products.

One of the initiatives is that of the Economic Interest Grouping of Cameroonian Agri-Entrepreneurs (GIEMADIKA) which serves as a formal platform for education, training, coaching, networking and promotion of access to capital to accompany entrepreneurs in the sector. The group which is poised to bring sustainable solutions has organized a trade fair for the promotion of agricultural value chains that will in turn put locally produced items on the spotlight.

The trade fair which ran from May 7-9, at the premises of the Chamber of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock and Forests of Cameroon in Yaounde, witnessed the participation of entrepreneurs from within Yaounde and its environs, who exhibited a panoply of items. From agro-foods to medicines and cosmetics transformed using home-grown raw materials, most visitors were marveled at the innovations.

While presiding at the official launching of the trade fair on Wednesday May 8, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Gabriel Mbairobe, called on entrepreneurs involved in the processing of local products to promote local know-how and competitiveness in the agro-forestry and pastoral sectors.
