Socio-political Situation In Cameroon : US Congress Supports Peace Talks

A visiting delegation made the point in an audience with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguié Djibril on July 2, 2019.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguié Djibril on July 2, 2019 received in audience a visiting delegation from the House of Congress of United States of America led by Hon. Karen Bass who is the US House of Representative for California's 37th Congressional District since 2013. The Congresswoman was accompanied to the audience by five members of Congress, four staff from the US Congress and the US Ambassador to Cameroon, Peter Henry Barlerin.  
Speaking to reporters after the over one hour audience, Hon. Karen Bass said she came to deliver a peace message from the United States and expressed her desire to see a return to calm in troubled regions of the country. “We came and delivered the message from the United States that we want to see peace in Cameroon, we want to do whatever we can to help attain that peace. We want to make sure humanitarian aid is able to get through and we want to make sure there is a dialogue between all the parties that will result in a peaceful Cameroon in the future,” she stated.
