Consumer Protection : Trade Ministry Unveils Hotline

The toll free telephone 1502 which was presented to the public in Yaounde on Wednesday September 25, will primarily entertain denunciations of suspicious commercial activities.

1502 is the unique hotline put at the disposal of Cameroonians across the country by the Ministry of Trade in order to ensure the protection of consumer rights. The toll free telephone number was made public by the Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana in Yaounde, Wednesday September 25, 2019.
While unveiling the hotline, in the presence of tens of officials of consumer rights organisations, Minister Luc Magloire said any person can call the toll free number which is lodged within the Ministry of Trade to give trade/consumption-related suggestions. He said the toll free number will also be an avenue for users to denounce malpractices involving officials of the Ministry of Trade, as well as report any suspicious commercial activities going on in their neighbourhoods. This will help to control market prices, fight contraband and counterfeiting, the Minister noted.
For the time being, the Minister said the call center will run during working hours from Monday to Saturday.
