Security Situation in the East Region : Minister Prescribes Firm Judicial Practice

Possible developmental projects, the preparedness of ELECAM and other issues were discussed during the meeting chaired by Atanga Nji in the East Region on October 24, 2019.

Territorial Administration Minister, Paul Atanga Nji on October 24, 2019 held a security meeting with administrative officials of the East Region, with Governor Grégoire Mvongo giving an update on the security situation of the region. Several security issues ranging from highway robbery and other criminal activities, the preparedness of Elections Cameroon for upcoming elections and developmental projects were discussed during the meeting with Minister Atanga calling for firm judicial practice and the vigilance of the population. 
He congratulated the Governor for having worked hard at reducing the crime wave in the region and better coordinating commercial bike riders and the denizens in general. "Justice is supposed to be firm because we cannot allow highway robbers to disturb the normal functioning of the region through their banditry activities. Several persons get into the town of Bertoua for varied reasons and the town is vast growing into a tourist site. The hand of justice needs to be strong on groups of organised crimes,” the Minister insisted. To the population, the Minister Atanga Nji urged them to be vigilant and collaborate with administrative officials for security reasons because the town shares wide borders with neighbouring countries. 
With regards to elections, he noted that they discussed on the situation of the elections management body (ELECAM). "We need to be prepared for upcoming elections. Different ELECAM branch offices need to be fully operational at all moments and also ensuring that registered persons have their cards withdrawn after registration," Paul Atanga Nji stated.
As per the growth of the region, the Territorial Administration Minister said necessary developmental projects need to be identified and presented to hierarchy. "We need to stress on development because as you all know, this mandate of the Head of State is named "Greater Opportunities"...
