Road Network : Improvement Recommendations To Gov’t

Focal points of the National Road Council (CONAROUTE) have proposed draft Laws, decrees, orders and other texts to be forwarded to the Prime Minister for studies and consideration.

At the end of the seventh series of conferences, the focal points of the National Road Council (CONAROUTE) have made recommendations that are to be forwarded to the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute who is also the chairman of CONAROUTE for studies and consideration intended to improve on the road network and infrastructure in Cameroon. 
The conferences started on August 8, 2019, ended on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 with the presentation of reports and recommendations made by the five Working Groups. The Deputy Secretary General at the Prime Minister’s Office, Pascal Nguihe Kante chaired the closing ceremony. He told the focal points that the Prime Minister was satisfied and appreciated their proposals that will provide solutions to the teething road problems in the country. He cited draft laws, decrees and other texts that they have proposed and said their report with the recommendations will be forwarded to the Prime Minister.
In all, the focal points proposed over 20 draft laws, decrees, orders and other texts which they believe if taken into consideration and implemented, road infrastructure problems and other road-related issues will be greatly tackled. They therefore, recommended that the Road Fund be rehabilitated and transformed into a second generation structure, the creation of Road Agency,  as well as the drawing up of the Road Master Plan. They also recommended that the Ministries of Finance and Public Contracts sign a text regulating the deadlines for processing the files for the payment of road projects.
