Elite One : Coton Sport Tightens Grip

Coton Sport of Garoua have tightened their grip at the helm of the Elite One championship as the competition nears the end of the first phase. The Garoua boys beat Avion of Nkam 2-1 in a day 15 encounter at the Coton Sport Ngalbidje Stadium in Garoua on Sunday December 22, 2019 to secure the top seat. The competition is getting tougher with each side eying the top seat. A total of nine matches were played with 20 goals scored and four draws recorded. Three of the victories were won at home and one away. 
After 15 playing days, Coton Sport is leading the classification table with 31 points. PWD of Bamenda is second with 28 points and TKC is third with 24 points. Even though Coton Sport is on top, they are still threatened by PWD of Bamenda that thrashed APEJES of Mfou 5-1 at the Yong Sports Academy Stadium in Bamenda. Coton Sport will have to fight hard to maintain their leadership position. TKC moved to the third position after they beat Dragon of Yaounde 1-0 in Yaounde.
