Higher Education: Pan-African University Is Priority

The draft budget of the Ministry of Higher Education is FCFA 97.6 billion.

 

The Minister of Higher Education, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo, has told the press in Yaounde after meeting with the Committee on Finance and Budget at the National Assembly that his Ministry will in 2017, complete construction work as well as equip the edifice of the Cameroon-Congo Interstate University. The Higher Education boss said Cameroon is host to the Rectorate of the intercontinental University at the Nsimalen neighbourhood to which construction work is scheduled for 2017. "We are ready to boost the initiative that is expected to improve the visibility of Cameroon universities. The draft bill was scrutinised on November 25, 2016 by members of the Committee on Finance and Budget with Hon. Rosette Ayayi as chairperson.

The ministry also seeks to modernise the country's public and private universities. The Ministry is also requesting a special allocation of FCFA 14 billion to transform research through a special earmarked account.
