Gulf of Guinea Fisheries Commission Evaluates Final Results

Actions to be taken to consolidate the achievements and ensure their sustainability beyond the project were spotlighted.

Experts on fish statistics from the Gulf of Guinea Regional Fisheries Commission (COREP) as well as from Cameroon, Republic of Congo, RDC, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tome and Principe with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organisation have evaluated the final results of the project on strengthening the collection of fisheries data in Central Africa.

For three days, that is November 23-25 in Douala, the experts assessed the final results of the COREP, focusing on the creation of local expertise in sampling surveys, structure and functions of information systems developed for the national and sub-regional fisheries sector. They also evaluated the sustainability of the systems developed with the support of the project with regard to the sustainability of the financing of national systems of data collection and information systems.
