2020 Legislative, Municipal Elections : Electoral Board Members Conduct Reassessment

An administrative, technical and financial check at the level of preparedness for the upcoming polls was done after a joint visit to various logistics bases involved in preparing electoral material.

Members of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon on January 10, 2020 met in the fifth session as of right in accordance with Section 19 (2) of the Electoral Code and conducted a phase-by-phase re-examination on the level of preparedness for the upcoming legislative     and municipal elections. The session which was dedicated to the administrative, technical and financial standpoint re-evaluation came after a joint visit to the various logistics bases that were bestowed the responsibility for the printing, preparation and packaging of election material and documents in view of the February 9, 2020 twin polls. 
In his opening statement, the Chairperson of the Electoral Board, Enow Abrams Egbe said the topmost priority of the institution since the convening of the Electoral College by the President of the Republic on November 10, 2019 is to ensure the credible, free and fair organisation of the elections. With regards to the logistics bases visited, the Chairperson said the guided tour has enabled them to take stock and better appreciate work progress. “This will surely permit us to make adequate recommendations to difficulties that might arise and likely to hinder the smooth progress of these activities. In other words, information gathered on the spot shall provide efficient guidance for the deliberations to follow, he stated. 
Meanwhile, on the logistics bases visited, the Chairperson of the Electoral Board and the Director General of Elections, Erik Essousse visited the Yaounde 101 Air Force Base where the packaging and cross-checking of electoral material and documents is unfolding.
