The three-day capacity building workshop on the company’s 2020 action plan ended last Friday in Yaounde.
A three-day capacity building workshop on the 2020 plan of action for the Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation (SOPECAM) has ended in Yaounde with a call for staff to forge ahead with tolerance, confidence and hope in the progress of the company. The Deputy General Manager of SOPECAM, Shey Peter Mabu made the call last Friday January 17, 2020, as he closed the event which enabled staff of regional and central services of the institution to get abreast with what is expected from them and how they should go about achieving the goals set by management for the year.
Speaking shortly after heads of the different Regional Agencies of SOPECAM presented activities in their different regions, alongside problems faced, Shey Peter Mabu reiterated the task that lies ahead and underscored that management was already working on measures to resolve these problems. “Let us forge ahead with the skills gained at the capacity-building workshop, despite the problems faced in a bid to produce quality results for the progress of the company”, Peter Mabu underlined. He further explained that the process in carrying out any work in the company needs to be done in team spirit and a family way. Without a team spirit, we cannot progress, Peter Mabu added. “When you return to your various posts of duty, remember that a single hand cannot tie a bundle. Thus, each personnel needs to effectively cooperate with his/her collaborators and the administration in place to produce quality results at all domains”, the Deputy General Manager told the staff. Instead of being stressed up with criticisms from external and even internal forces, staff of SOPECAM have been encouraged to always present their problems on time and should not wait for yearly meetings for such issues to be raised and resolved.
The three-day intense exchange and reflection which brought together a multiple of staff ranging from top management to technical support agent, through Operational Directors and chiefs of external structures took place under the theme, "SOPECAM for Better Quality in Conquering New Markets.” While presenting the general report of the workshop, Management Control Activities Coordinator, Clementine Demenou, said quality approach is not a goal in itself, but a strategic tool to achieve the objectives set by top management. The latter, she said, requires the creation of synergies within the Divisions, between Divisions and between Divisions and the heads of external structures. “It is therefore urgent for each and every one of us to be imbued with this new asset in order to raise SOPECAM to the top of the most efficient public companies in Africa”, Clementine Demenou concluded.
