Women’s Empowerment: Women’s Empowerment Targeted In 2017

The draft budget of the ministry stands at FCFA 5.643 billion.

The Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, Abena Ondoa Obama Marie Thérèse on November 26, 2016 defended the draft budget of the ministry for the 2017 financial year that stands at FCFA 5.643 billion. The operating budget stands at FCFA 4.528 billion and the public investment budget is FCFA 1.115 billion.

According to the minister, compared to the 2016 allocation, the budget has reduced by FCFA 1.245 billion in absolute value. While the operating budget has reduced by FCFA 1.345 billion, the public investment budget has increased by FCFA 100 million. Minister Abena Ondoa said the ministry will in 2017 focus its intervention in three key programmes. There is women’s empowerment and gender promotion. This will be done by gearing efforts towards increasing the guarantees of gender equality and the empowerment of women.
