Senegal-Cameroon: Macky Sall Wants to Srengthen Ties

The President of the Republic of Senegal who set foot on Cameroonian soil yesterday for the first time since assuming the presidency of his country would like to see ties strengthened

 

For what was initially a technical stop-over, the presence of the Senegalese President Macky Sall in Yoaunde yesterday turned out to be a veritable working visit, seen from the point of view of an hour-long audience with President Paul Biya and a highly-attended luncheon at State House held shortly after the talks and involving the principal State personalities such as the Senate President Marcel Niat, House Speaker Cavaye Yeguie, the Prime Minister and Head of Government Philemon Yang and the President of the Economic and Social Council Luc Ayang as well as some cabinet ministers including the Minister of State, Minister of Justice Laurent Esso, the Minister-Secretary General at the Presideny Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, the Minister-Director of Cabinet of the Civil Cabinet Martin Belinga Eboutou, Finance Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey and the Minister-Delegate in the Ministry of External Relations in charge of the Commonwealth, Joseph Dion Ngute. The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps Monsignor Piero Pioppo.

The Senegalese President arrived at Stae House grounds at about 2.30 Pm and was received as he stepped out of his limousine by President Paul Biya who led him to his third-floor office where they conferred behind closed doors for about one hour before emerging for lunch which opened with a toast from host President Biya who expressed his happiness over President Sall’s initiative to come personally to deliver a message of friendship from the people of Senegal.
