24 March, 2020 Buea Floods : Torrents Hit A Dozen Areas In Buea

The South West Governor urged the Buea Council to employ labour to clear blocked culverts.

The havens broke loose in Buea, capital of the South West Region, in the evening of Tuesday, 24 March, 2020, in Buea releasing an ocean of water that washed down property, soil and stones in its passage. Happily, no human life was decried. Experts say it rained less in the city of Buea but much more on the Cameroon Mountain to discharge the current of water that left visible effects on the city. The various drains provided in the municipality of Buea became too small to contain the force and quantity of water flow.By yesterday morning the various affected areas became  dry without any rain again.
Heavily affected areas included the Regional Hospital Junction, the GCE Board entrance, the Buea Town, the Lower Farms, the Second District Police Office in Molyko, and the culvert below the central police. In the course of floods vehicles, kitchen utensils, motor bikes and many other property were swept in off. Owners had to wait till the end of the down pour to recuperate some of their property.
