Cocoa Farmers Empowered With Inputs

The farmers were urged to make better use of the fertilizer put at their disposal in order to improve production.
Some 24 farmer’s cooperatives and common initiative groups (CIG's) in Meme Division, have received 35 tons of chemical and organic fertilizer from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The farm inputs were distributed by the Inspector General in charge of Rural Development, in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Pauline Marie Mveng. It was during the official launch of the second phase of the Support Project for the use of Fertilizers in the Cocoa and Coffee sub-sectors on November 30, 2016 in Kumba.
The Inspector General, Pauline Marie Mveng, said government was determined to ensure that the policy of Second-generation Agriculture produces the expected results. She urged the farmers to make good use of the inputs. Pauline Marie Mveng told the farmers that government is bent on improving the living condition of Cameroonians especially those in rural areas. "That is why the Head of State is more engaged in the development of the cocoa and coffee sub-sector which, not only plays a major role in the economy, but a source of income for the rural population”, she explained.
She revealed that the sub-sector generates about FCFA 150 billion as revenue distributed to almost 600,000 producers nationwide.
